-
Group discussion of exit interview for 2SRT
-
Significant Findings and suggestions
-
campus life (form "sub" of retention committee to organize)
-
campus housing
-
Mathematics
-
student satisfaction and learning is very low senior math faculty or retention
committee may need to solve it
-
low self-esteem created by math department is deterring students from continuing
into the four year program
-
Program location may have to change to make this program a success due
to poor mathematics, non-existent campus housing and non-existent campus
life
-
Review of ABET Review Report
-
Lunch with students (discussions)
-
Math - Some mathematics instructors are terrible, and cannot relate the
information to the students.
-
Physics - Outdated program (equipment and lab. Experiments) causes students
to not have any interest interests may be sparked if the correlation between
physics and surveying were identified as the lessons were taught (ex. Lenses
in physics and photogrammetry)
-
Large Scale Mapping - nothing was gained from this course students expect
to become proficient in Eagle Point and SMI by more practical application
would really like hands on GPS, (re. - 3 day summer camp seminar) do not
know how to use SMI trainer
-
Ghilani noted the introduction of GPS into the class, and the creation
of movies to provide learning aids for students to learn software. Also
noted that a few 3-hour labs will never make someone proficient in software.
Also noted that SMI training software was available for students on server
in lab if they would use it.
-
211 class could not do layout with data collector
-
no use of digital level
-
Ghilani noted lack of software from vendor to use level, singularity of
equipment in lab where six groups would need equipment
-
would like practical lessons from licensed practitioners
-
computer lab is great when you can use it
-
visit from John Barnes on increased enrollment tactics
-
Admissions office going to several Community Colleges in an attempt to
attract transfer students
-
Two possible articulation agreements are being worked on by Dr. Ghilani
with Paul Smiths College and LCCC
-
Materials are being sent to past graduates to aid recruiting in other regions
of the state.
-

-
Listen to Dr. Ghilani's thoughts of the ABET review.
