2.      Those present were:

3.      Dr. Ghilani passed a tablet to those present to collect addresses and e-mail addresses.

4.      Dr. Ghilani addressed the changes to the 2SRT and SUR curriculums. The following were noted changes:

- Change in Math sequence to 140, 141, 220, 230, 251 from 140, 141, 220 & 231 or 230.

- Change in number of courses: SUR 321 to SUR 222, SUR 242 to SUR 341, SUR 345 to SUR 445, sequence of EMCH 011, CET 261 and SUR 385 to a single course of SUR 485, creation of SUR 335 - Remote Sensing (currently use GEOG 352), and split of SUR 162 into 162 and 262.

- Change of prerequisites in BS program

5.      Lunch included and exit review with students.  Comments from the students follow and rare in no specific order:

·        Have a Co-Op program instead of the Summer Camp.  IAC felt this would be a good program but explained that it is not an easy or cheap program for business or school to run.

·        New students appear to be getting more computer experience.

·        Feel they need more emphasis on Survey drafting as they only have ˝ Semester of AutoCad.  IAC suggested that they were not in school to become draftspersons and suggested that the course was an attempt for students to get a feel for the drafted product.  It was also suggested that there were to many CAD programs on the market to teach them everything.

·        Students felt that the Physics lab should teach practical applications so they could relate to real life situations.  IAC suggested that that may be possible, but also suggested that the lab taught the basics and the student must learn to take the information and adapt it to life’s experiences.

·        Expressed a concern in the 482 Land Development class.  Tough to get hold of an instructor for out of class help.  The instructor does not know how to use Eagle Point.  Part time instructors were felt to degrade the program.  IAC noted the concern.

·        Students complained about Legal Aspects, SUR 272 and  SUR 372W.  They stated the same book and same chapters were studied in both courses, that they did not cover much, a concern expressed about the lack of instruction of case law, and a need for more description writing.  IAC noted the concern. Dr. Wes Parks will present content of SUR 272 and SUR 372W at next meeting for IAC review.

·        There was a concern that was expressed that the electives that the students wanted were tough or impossible to schedule.  IAC noted the concern.

·        The computer lab access continues to be a hot subject with the students. IAC noted the concern and continues to support efforts to provide lab availability to the Survey students.

·        Students would like more exposure to resume writing, job recruiting, salary needs, cost of living (geographical), etc.  IAC noted the concern.

6.      Dr. Ghilani reviewed the 2SRT ABET materials that were handed out.

7.      Meeting adjourned.  Next meeting was to be set for 2SRT ABET review scheduled for October.
