Surveying Society Activities

1.  PSLS Conference (January 21 – 24) Annual Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors' conference held in Hershey.  There will be many vendors allowing students to see the latest surveying equipment.  This is also an excellent opportunity to meet future employers.  It is highly recommended that any student who received an award from the PSLS attend this event.
  • What do I have to do? - It is important that you attend the surveying society meetings.  The PSLS is generous and foots the bill for our rooms at the Hershey Lodge.  We show our gratitude by hosting a session.  We will need to compile a list of students planning on attending this event and which session they plan on hosting.

2.  Traverse Challenge (Spring semester) - The Traverse Challenge is a voluntary event held on campus for students outside the major. Surveying Society members teach the other students how to use a compass and assist them in determining thier own pace count.  Prizes are awarded in a competitive event following the class.
3.  Haunted Forest (Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays in October) -  All campus organizations join together to host a Haunted Forest, House, and Hayride.  The proceeds benefit cancer research at the Hershey Medical Center.  The Surveying Society runs the Haunted Cemetery.  Hours: 6 to 11 PM  during the last 3 weeks of October
